Coated Paper

Very easy meaning to understand the Coated Paper, is Gloss Paper. Common end users are aware about the word Gloss Paper.

The coated papers also known as gloss paper, slick paper, and enamel paper. The coated paper has been coated by a mixture of materials or a polymer to impart certain qualities to the paper, including weight, surface gloss, smoothness, or reduced ink absorbency.

As per the manufacturing process of the coated paper, it has a smooth clay coating applied over a freesheet or groundwood base paper. The base paper is made first, then put through a ‘bath’ of clay or coated while running on a machine, with a blade and calender rollers smoothing out the coating on the paper.

Mostly the coated paper is used for printing magazines, photographs, catalogues, book covers, journals and other advertising materials, to highlight the colours vibrancy. Coated paper is generally used for making covers or promotional cards included in the notebooks.
