Fix faint prints (laser toner)
Pages come out light or grey. On a laser, that's low toner, a dirty corona wire, or toner save mode — not a clog, since lasers don't clog.
01 · Identify — does this match what you see?
- Text looks grey instead of black
- Faded bands across the page
- Print fades toward one side
02 · Resolve — follow in order
- 1
Open the front cover, remove the drum-and-toner assembly, and gently rock it side to side 5–6 times to redistribute toner.
- 2
Slide the green corona-wire tab (on the drum) left to right and back to its home position — a dirty wire causes fade on one side.
- 3
Reinstall the assembly and close the cover.
- 4
Check Toner Save isn't on: Menu → General Setup → Ecology → Toner Save → Off.
- 5
If pages still fade, the toner is genuinely empty — install a new cartridge and reset the counter.
Pro tip
Always slide the corona-wire tab back to its home position after cleaning. A tab left in the middle causes a permanent vertical streak down every page.
