Refill Epson EcoTank ink the right way
EcoTank bottles are keyed to their color and stop automatically — but doing it in the wrong order or overfilling still causes problems.
01 · Identify — does this match what you see?
- Low ink warning on the display
- Unsure which bottle goes where
- Ink level on screen doesn't match the tank
02 · Resolve — follow in order
- 1
Power the printer on and open the ink tank cover.
- 2
Open only the cap of the color you're refilling — the bottle top is shaped to fit only its own tank.
- 3
Invert the bottle into the fill port; it drains and stops by itself. Don't squeeze the bottle.
- 4
Close the cap, repeat for other colors, then close the tank cover.
- 5
On the display, confirm the refill when asked so the on-screen ink level resets.
Pro tip
Refill before the ink drops below the bottom line on the tank. Running an EcoTank dry pulls air into the lines and causes streaks that take several cleanings to clear.
