Easy · 4 minInk & print quality

Speed up slow printing

If every page crawls out, the printer is likely set to high quality or quiet mode — or it's re-rendering a heavy document. All easy wins.

01 · Identify — does this match what you see?

  • A single page takes over a minute
  • Long pause before printing starts
  • Printer is whisper-quiet but very slow

02 · Resolve — follow in order

  1. 1

In the print dialog, set Quality to “Standard” or “Draft” — “High” can triple print time.

  2. 2

Check the printer menu for Quiet Mode and turn it off if speed matters more than noise.

  3. 3

Print PDFs as a single document instead of page-by-page from a browser tab.

  4. 4

On Wi-Fi, move the printer closer to the router; a weak signal slows big photo jobs.

  5. 5

For everyday documents, choose grayscale — mixing color black is slower and uses more ink.

Pro tip

“Draft” mode on a PIXMA is roughly twice as fast and perfectly readable for schoolwork and drafts. Save High quality for photos.
