Printing Process : Pre-Press

Pre-Press

Pre-flighting, creating a proof, and making the printing are the most three stages of pre-press. Following are the important steps of the pre-press process.

  • Selection of the paper
  • Caring about bleed and crop mark
  • Caring about imposition (Front-Back setting)
  • Screen Calibrating (For Colour Perfection)
  • Ensure Colour accuracy (CMYK)
  • Ensure Image size and resolution
  • Checking font spacing
  • Proofread carefully everything
  • Creating a high-resolution PDF

After completion of design work, the file in the format of CDR, AI, PSD, etc. will be sent for the plate making in offset printing. Computer to Plate machine receive the information about the print file electronically and transforms the data to prepare the plate. In the offset printing technology, digitally prepared plate is being used to transfer the image onto the paper.

In short, pre-press is a preparation of plate-making using a digital art-work, and the process is started before the printing.

After completing the print file of a magazine, newspaper, stationery, brochure or any other item, then only, pre-press department will now be responsible to take care actively that there are no errors left in the approved print file, such as colour, image, or paper size related.
