Fix “No Paper Fed” or misfeed
The printer tries to pick a sheet and fails — “No Paper Fed” even though the tray is full. It's a dirty or worn pickup roller, or a loading issue.
01 · Identify — does this match what you see?
- “No Paper Fed” message with a full tray
- Roller spins but grabs nothing
- Pages skew to one side then stop
02 · Resolve — follow in order
- 1
Remove the paper, fan it, and reload snugly against the right side and back of the tray.
- 2
Check the paper guides aren't too tight — they should just touch the stack, not bow it.
- 3
Clean the pickup roller: remove the tray, dampen a lint-free cloth with water, and wipe the rubber roller inside the slot.
- 4
Run “Paper Feed Cleaning” from the panel if your model offers it (Maintenance → Paper Feed Cleaning).
- 5
If it still misfeeds after cleaning, the pickup roller is worn — a replacement roller kit is inexpensive and lasts years.
Pro tip
Paper that's been in the tray for weeks absorbs humidity and clumps. A fresh ream fixes stubborn “No Paper Fed” errors more often than any cleaning.
