Print on cardstock and thick paper
Most Canon home printers handle card up to around 300 gsm from the rear tray only.
01 · Identify — does this match what you see?
- Thick paper jams or refuses to feed
- Print scuffs on heavy stock
- Printer reports a jam that is not there
02 · Resolve — follow in order
- 1
Check your model's maximum media weight in its manual before buying stock.
- 2
Load card in the rear tray one sheet at a time.
- 3
Set the media type to the heaviest matching option available.
- 4
Leave the output path clear so the sheet can exit straight.
- 5
Slow the job by choosing higher quality, which reduces scuffing.
Pro tip
If the card curls upward as it prints, print with the grain running the long way for a stiffer sheet.
