Easy · 5 minScanning & copying

Copies come out blank or half printed

The scanner reads the page but the printed copy is empty or cut off — a placement or ink problem, not a scanner fault.

01 · Identify — does this match what you see?

  • Blank sheet after pressing Copy
  • Only the top half of the page copies
  • Copy is shifted off the edge

02 · Resolve — follow in order

  1. 1

Place the original face DOWN on the glass, tucked into the corner marked by the arrow.

  2. 2

Close the lid gently — a raised lid lets light in and washes the page out.

  3. 3

Print the nozzle check pattern. If the copy is blank but the pattern prints, the placement was wrong.

  4. 4

If the pattern is also blank, run one printhead cleaning and check ink or toner levels.

  5. 5

For cut-off copies, set the copy size to match the loaded paper instead of Auto fit.

Pro tip

Some models copy from the feeder by default when paper is loaded there — remove it to copy from the glass.
