Fix a false paper jam error on an Epson

The screen says jam but you can't find any paper. A tiny scrap, a sticky sensor flag, or a dusty sensor triggers the same error.

01 · Identify — does this match what you see?

  • Persistent jam error with no visible paper
  • Error returns immediately after clearing
  • Started after a real jam was removed

02 · Resolve — follow in order

  1. 1

Unplug the printer and open every cover: scanner unit, rear feed, and the duplexer/back panel.

  2. 2

Check the paper path with a flashlight for small torn pieces — especially under the printhead parking area.

  3. 3

Gently move the small plastic sensor flags in the paper path; they should spring back freely.

  4. 4

Blow dust off the paper sensors with a puff of air (a blower bulb, not high-pressure canned air).

  5. 5

Reload fresh paper, close all covers firmly, and power on.

Pro tip

The most common hidden scrap location on Epsons is under the printhead when it's parked on the right — slide it aside (printer off and unplugged) to look.
