Clear a paper jam in an Epson

Epsons report a jam even for a tiny torn scrap. Work front to back, pull with the paper path, and check the rear feed slot.

01 · Identify — does this match what you see?

  • “Paper jam” error on the screen
  • Crumpled or half-fed sheet visible
  • Grinding noise, then the job stops

02 · Resolve — follow in order

  1. 1

Turn the printer off and unplug it before reaching inside.

  2. 2

Open the scanner unit and pull jammed paper slowly in the direction of the paper path — never backward.

  3. 3

Check the rear paper feed slot and the duplex (back) cover for scraps.

  4. 4

Look for torn corners; even a thumbnail-sized piece keeps the jam error alive.

  5. 5

Fan and square a fresh stack, reload below the max line, and power the printer back on.

Pro tip

Shine a phone flashlight along the paper path — the scrap causing the error is usually white-on-white and nearly invisible otherwise.
