Stop photo paper from jamming
Glossy paper is heavier and sticks together. Loading it one sheet at a time from the rear tray solves most jams.
01 · Identify — does this match what you see?
- Photo sheets jam while plain paper works
- Glossy sheets feed two at a time
- Ink smears on the trailing edge
02 · Resolve — follow in order
- 1
Use the rear tray rather than the front cassette for photo paper.
- 2
Load one sheet at a time, glossy side up.
- 3
Select the exact photo paper type in the print dialog so the printer slows the feed.
- 4
Leave prints to dry flat for a few minutes before stacking.
- 5
Keep unused photo paper in its resealable bag.
Pro tip
Curled photo paper is the top cause of jams. Store it flat under a book overnight to flatten it.
