Align the printhead for sharp lines
Text with a faint double edge or wavy ruled lines means the head alignment has drifted.
01 · Identify — does this match what you see?
- Vertical lines look wavy
- Text has a shadow on one side
- Photos look slightly soft
02 · Resolve — follow in order
- 1
Load at least three sheets of plain A4 or Letter paper in the main tray.
- 2
Open Maintenance on the printer menu and choose Print Head Alignment (automatic if offered).
- 3
Let the printer print and then scan the alignment sheet on the glass if it asks you to.
- 4
Wait for the printer to report completion before printing anything else.
- 5
Print a document with ruled lines to confirm the edges are clean.
Pro tip
