Clean the drum unit (repeating marks)
A black dot repeating every ~94 mm down the page means toner stuck on the drum. You can clean the drum surface carefully to remove it.
01 · Identify — does this match what you see?
- Identical black spot repeating down every page
- Streak that repeats at a fixed interval
- 'Drum End Soon' warning alongside the marks
02 · Resolve — follow in order
- 1
Open the front cover and remove the drum-and-toner assembly.
- 2
Pull the toner out of the drum so you can see the green drum cylinder.
- 3
Locate the mark on the drum by rotating it slowly (turn the gear on the side, never the cylinder itself).
- 4
Dab the spot with a dry, lint-free cotton swab — never use liquid or fingers on the drum surface.
- 5
Reassemble and reinstall. If the spot returns immediately, the drum is scratched and needs replacement.
Pro tip
Never touch the green drum cylinder with bare fingers and never expose it to bright light for more than a minute. Skin oils and light both damage the coating permanently.
