Fix “Cooling Down” wait messages
“Cooling Down” means the fuser is protecting itself from overheating. It's normal after heavy jobs — but if it lingers, airflow or room temp is the issue.
01 · Identify — does this match what you see?
- “Cooling Down” message blocks printing
- Printer pauses after long jobs
- Error appears in a hot room or enclosed cabinet
02 · Resolve — follow in order

Wait — the printer resumes automatically once the fuser cools to a safe temperature.

If it happens often, move the printer to a ventilated spot, not a closed cabinet.

Keep at least 10 cm clear at the vents on all sides.

Avoid running back-to-back large duplex jobs in a hot room.

If “Cooling Down” never clears even when idle and cool, the fuser thermistor may be faulty — a service job.
Pro tip
Tucking a laser printer inside a desk cabinet is the top cause of chronic “Cooling Down.” Pull it forward so the rear vent can breathe.
