“Ink absorber almost full” warning
The pad that soaks up cleaning ink is filling. The printer keeps working for a while, then stops with a service code.
01 · Identify — does this match what you see?
- Warning appears at power-on
- Message returns every few days
- Later becomes error 5B00 or 1700
02 · Resolve — follow in order
- 1
Press OK or Stop to dismiss the warning and carry on printing for now.
- 2
Cut down on printhead cleanings — each one adds to the absorber.
- 3
Print a small job at least weekly so the printer runs fewer automatic cleanings.
- 4
Plan ahead: once the pad is truly full, the printer refuses to print until a service centre resets it.
- 5
For an older, inexpensive model, compare the service cost against a replacement before booking a repair.
Pro tip
This is a wear part, not a fault — it tracks how much ink was flushed over the printer's life.
