Align the printhead on an Epson
Blurry vertical edges and misaligned color lines mean the printhead needs alignment — the printer prints a pattern and you pick the best-looking blocks.
01 · Identify — does this match what you see?
- Text looks doubled or shadowed
- Vertical lines in tables look wavy
- Color fringing on photo edges
02 · Resolve — follow in order

Load plain A4/Letter paper in the tray.

On the printer, go to Settings → Maintenance → Print Head Alignment.

The printer prints a pattern of numbered blocks; examine the sheet.

Enter the numbers of the blocks with the least visible lines or gaps.

Repeat for each pattern set until the alignment completes, then print a test page.
Pro tip
Always align after moving the printer or after a head cleaning fixed a clog — physical jolts and nozzle changes both shift alignment.
