Fix Epson error 0xF1
Error 0xF1 means the printhead carriage can't move freely — usually a jammed scrap, a foreign object, or a stalled carriage rail.
01 · Identify — does this match what you see?
- “Error code 0xF1” at power-on
- Carriage stuck on one side
- Grinding or clicking before the error appears
02 · Resolve — follow in order
- 1
Unplug the printer and open the scanner unit.
- 2
Slide the printhead carriage gently by hand — it should glide the full width. Note where it resists.
- 3
Remove any paper scraps, labels, or foreign objects (paperclips are common) from the rail path.
- 4
Wipe the metal rail with a dry lint-free cloth; do not add oil or grease.
- 5
Plug in and power on. If the carriage still stalls, the encoder strip may be dirty — wipe it gently with a dry swab.
Pro tip
Never force the carriage. If it won't budge with light pressure, something is physically blocking it — find that before powering on again.
