Update Epson printer firmware safely
Firmware updates fix bugs, Wi-Fi dropouts, and some error codes. Do it from the printer's menu over Wi-Fi or with the Epson Software Updater.
01 · Identify — does this match what you see?
- Printer prompts that a firmware update is available
- Known bugs your model's update fixes
- Wi-Fi instability or error codes Epson has patched
02 · Resolve — follow in order
- 1
Make sure the printer won't lose power — updates take 10–20 minutes and an interruption can brick the printer.
- 2
On the printer, go to Settings → Firmware Update → Update (or use Epson Software Updater on your computer).
- 3
Let it download and install without touching any buttons.
- 4
The printer restarts itself when done; don't power it off manually during the process.
- 5
Print a status sheet afterward to confirm the new firmware version.
Pro tip
Note that firmware updates can block some third-party cartridges. If you use compatibles, read the update notes first.
