Printhead errors 1401 and 1403
The printer cannot read the printhead at all (1401) or reads it as unsupported (1403).
01 · Identify — does this match what you see?
- 1401 or 1403 on screen
- Printer refuses every job
- Started right after a head or cartridge change
02 · Resolve — follow in order

Switch the printer off and unplug it for two minutes.

Open the cover, lift the grey lever and take the printhead out.
- 3
Wipe the gold electrical contacts on the head and inside the carriage with a dry lint-free cloth.
- 4
Refit the head firmly and push the lever fully down until it clicks.
- 5
Plug in, power on and print a test page.
Pro tip
Never touch the gold contacts with your fingers — skin oil alone can cause this error.
