Understand the P07 service error

P07 is the older display form of the waste ink absorber full condition. It requires a service reset.

01 · Identify — does this match what you see?

  • “P07” on a two-digit display
  • Printer will not accept jobs

02 · Resolve — follow in order

  1. 1

Power the printer off and back on to confirm the code is persistent.

  2. 2

Record the model number and approximate page count.

  3. 3

Contact a Canon service centre and ask for an absorber replacement and counter reset.

  4. 4

Ask for the quote before authorising work — on entry-level models a new printer may cost less.

  5. 5

If you continue using the printer, place it on a tray; a saturated absorber can leak.

Pro tip

Counter resets found online often skip the physical pad replacement, which is the part that actually overflows.
