Install a Canon printer on Windows
Windows finds most Canon printers automatically on the network; the full driver adds scanning and maintenance tools.
01 · Identify — does this match what you see?
- Printer not listed in Windows
- Only basic printing works
- Scan button does nothing
02 · Resolve — follow in order
- 1
Make sure the printer is powered on and joined to the same Wi-Fi network as the PC.
- 2
Open Settings, then Bluetooth & devices, then Printers & scanners, and choose Add device.
- 3
If the Canon appears, select it and let Windows install the basic driver.
- 4
For scanning and maintenance, download the full driver package for your exact model from Canon's support site.
- 5
Print a test page from the printer's properties to confirm.
Pro tip
Remove old duplicate printer entries first — Windows often prints to a stale copy of the same device.
